Upcoming Renault and Nissan SUVs in India: Duster, Kiger, Boreal & More

The SUV market in India is booming. And Renault and Nissan are both getting ready to launch new models in the coming months and years. From compact city SUVs to big three-row family models, there’s something in the pipeline for everyone.

Let’s take a closer look at what Renault and Nissan have planned for Indian roads.

Next-Gen Renault Duster Coming in Early 2026

The Duster is making a comeback. And this time, it’s not just a facelift. It’s a brand-new generation. The third-gen Duster will be based on the CMF-B platform. It has already been seen testing multiple times in India.

Powering the new Duster will be a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine is expected to deliver 154 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It will likely come with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Renault is also considering launching a strong hybrid version. This hybrid setup will pair a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering 140 bhp. If launched, this could attract buyers looking for more mileage and cleaner driving.

The new Duster will compete with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Skoda Kushaq. It will offer modern design, strong performance and more features than before.

Renault Kiger Facelift Launching Later This Year

The Renault Kiger is also getting a mid-cycle update. The facelifted model is confirmed for launch by the end of this year.

The changes include new LED headlamps, reworked bumpers, updated tail lights and fresh alloy wheels. The facelift might also be the first model in India to carry Renault’s new logo.

Inside the cabin, the dashboard layout will be slightly updated. Renault could add new features like wireless Android Auto and better connectivity options. However, the mechanicals will remain unchanged.

The Kiger will continue to use the same 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines. Gearbox choices will include manual, AMT and CVT.

Renault Boreal: A Bigger SUV Based on Duster

Renault is also planning a new three-row SUV for India. It will be called Boreal. The SUV will launch after the new Duster and will be based on the Dacia Bigster.

The Boreal will also use the CMF-B platform and will be larger than the Duster. In fact, it will be 230 mm longer with a wheelbase that is stretched by 43 mm. This means more space for the third row and more boot space for luggage.

Under the hood, the Boreal will borrow the same powertrains as the new Duster. This includes the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and the 1.6-litre strong hybrid setup. The SUV will target buyers looking for a family car with modern design and good performance.

All-New Nissan SUV to Launch by 2026

Nissan is not sitting quietly. The company is working on its own version of the Duster. It will be built on the same CMF-B platform but will look very different.

Nissan may name it Kait. The official teaser shows that the SUV will follow a new design style, different from Renault’s. Inside, it may offer a new dashboard layout and more tech features.

The Nissan SUV will share the same engines as the new Duster. That means a 1.3-litre turbo petrol and a 1.6-litre hybrid. Pricing could be slightly different depending on the variant and features.

With these launches, both Renault and Nissan are aiming to grab a bigger share of the Indian SUV market. They’re betting big on design, features and engine options that fit Indian roads and wallets.
