Mahindra is all set to shake the EV market in 2025. And they are doing it in style. Their new electric car, the Mahindra XEV 9E, is here. It comes with bold styling, premium features, and a modern design that reminds you of Audi and BMW.
If you thought EVs were boring or expensive, this car might just change your mind.
Let’s go deep into what makes the XEV 9E such a hot topic right now.
Futuristic SUV Look With Premium Road Presence
One look at the XEV 9E and you know this is not your regular Mahindra. It looks sharp. It looks wide. And it looks very international.
At the front, the full-width LED DRL strip steals the show. It stretches across the face like you see in Audi e-tron and BMW iX. The headlamps sit low, integrated into the bumper. The bumper itself is sporty and has air vents that are more for style than function.
The Mahindra logo is also updated. It lights up on the front grille. Gives it a high-tech feel.
From the side, the XEV 9E has a coupe-SUV shape. The roofline gently slopes towards the back. The doors have clean lines and flush handles. Just like you see in Tesla and other luxury EVs.
The alloy wheels are huge. Around 19 or 20 inches. They come with an aerodynamic design. Perfect for EVs.
At the back, the connected LED tail-lamp bar gives it a premium finish. The spoiler and bumper are well designed. You get a strong and wide rear look.
It’s very clear. Mahindra is aiming for that Audi and BMW styling. And they’ve done a great job.
Spacious Cabin With Tech-Filled Dashboard
Step inside, and the cabin feels straight out of a future car.
You get a triple-screen setup. One for the driver, one in the center, and one for co-passenger functions. All displays are wide, clear, and sharp.
The steering wheel is two-spoke. With a light-up Mahindra logo at the center. It has a flat bottom and mounted controls. The gear selector is rotary-style. Just turn it to go.
Seats are wide and plush. Covered in vegan leather. Ventilated. Powered adjustment. Memory function. It’s all there.
The dashboard uses soft-touch materials. Ambient lighting runs across the cabin. Footwell lighting adds to the vibe.
Rear seat comfort is good too. Legroom and headroom are more than enough. There’s a center armrest, rear AC vents, and USB-C charging ports.
Advanced Features That Feel Luxury
The Mahindra XEV 9E is packed with features. It wants to give that premium feel without the premium badge price.
Some key features include:
- 360-degree camera with clear display
- Heads-up display on windshield
- ADAS Level 2 with lane keep assist, blind spot alert, auto emergency braking
- Panoramic sunroof with electric shade
- Premium sound system (expected to be Sony or Harman)
- Dual-zone climate control
- Wireless phone charging pad
- Over-the-air updates for software
- Voice commands for AC, music, and more
- Fully digital instrument cluster
Even luxury cars in higher segments miss out on some of these features. Mahindra is really upping the game here.
Battery and Performance Details
Official battery specs are not out yet, but here’s what we expect.
The XEV 9E could come with a 60 to 80 kWh battery pack. Enough to give a real-world range of 450 to 500 km.
It’s expected to support fast charging. 0 to 80% in under 40 minutes with a DC fast charger.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h could take under 8 seconds. That’s pretty quick for a car in this segment.
There may be two versions. One with single motor (FWD) and one with dual motor (AWD). The AWD version will offer better grip and performance.
Drive modes like Eco, Normal, and Sport will help you adjust the power as needed.
Built on INGLO Platform
Mahindra has developed a new platform for their EVs. It’s called INGLO.
The XEV 9E is based on this platform. That means it’s made as an EV from day one. Not a petrol car converted to electric. So space is used smartly.
You get a flat floor inside. That makes rear seat space better. Also, the center tunnel is gone. So middle passengers feel more comfortable.
The platform also supports quick charging and multiple battery sizes.
Safety Is Strong
Mahindra is serious about safety now. Their newer cars like XUV700 and Scorpio N have proven it. The XEV 9E continues that tradition.
You get:
- 6 airbags or more
- Electronic stability control
- All-wheel disc brakes
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
- Strong crash-tested body shell
- ISOFIX child seat mounts
- Hill hold and descent control
With the ADAS features added on top, this car will be one of the safest EVs in the segment.
Launch Timeline and Price
Mahindra has already teased the XEV 9E multiple times. It is expected to launch in India by end of 2025.
The price could start from ₹22 lakh to ₹28 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on variant and battery pack.
At this price, it will directly challenge MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Tata Harrier EV.
And with the kind of design, features, and tech it offers, the XEV 9E might become a top choice for EV buyers in the ₹20-30 lakh range.
Perfect for Young Buyers and Future-Ready Families
This car is designed for people who want to stand out. It’s for buyers who want to move to electric but don’t want to lose on power, space, or features.
Young professionals, tech lovers, city families, and even people upgrading from sedans will find this SUV attractive.
It gives style, safety, and savings. All wrapped in a futuristic package.
