KIA Seltos EV Leak Shocks Market: Bold New SUV Look, 500+ Km Range & Launch Date Revealed!

KIA Seltos EV is coming soon, and it’s already making a big noise. A few leaks and insider details have shaken up the EV space in India. The popular Seltos is getting an electric heart. And it’s not just about switching fuel. It’s about taking everything to the next level.

KIA has been teasing an electric SUV for a while. People expected it to be something new. But the surprise is, it’s the Seltos getting electrified. The Seltos is already a top-selling SUV in the market. Now imagine it with silent power, more torque, and crazy range. That’s exactly what the Seltos EV promises.

Let’s get into every detail that has come out so far. From design updates to battery size, range, features, and expected pricing in India.

Sharp new design language

The leaked images and digital renders show a bolder version of the regular Seltos. It’s not a copy-paste job. KIA has made sure the Seltos EV looks fresh and futuristic.

At the front, there’s no big grille. That’s normal for EVs. Instead, there’s a closed-off front panel with subtle textures. The LED headlamps are sharper and now stretch further into the sides. The DRLs are in a new pattern and give the car a more aggressive stance.

The bumper design is sporty. It has new air vents and aero elements. These aren’t just for show. They help cool the battery and improve airflow.

From the side, you’ll notice new dual-tone alloy wheels. They look aerodynamic and are likely 17 or 18 inches in size. The charging port is placed near the front fender. Roof rails, shark fin antenna, and blacked-out pillars remain similar to the petrol version.

At the rear, there’s a wide LED light bar that connects the tail lamps. The bumper is smoother, with no exhaust outlets of course. There’s a clean ‘EV’ badge near the boot lid and a new KIA logo too.

Fresh cabin with EV tech

The inside of the Seltos EV will feel familiar but better. The dashboard layout is expected to stay close to the new facelift model. But it gets some modern upgrades.

You’ll see a big twin-screen setup. One side is the driver’s digital instrument cluster. The other is a touchscreen infotainment system. Both displays are large, sharp, and packed with features.

There’s no gear lever. Instead, there’s a rotary dial to switch between drive modes. The center console is more open and minimal. You get soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, and high-quality seat upholstery.

The seats will likely be ventilated in top variants. Rear seat comfort is also good, with enough headroom and legroom. There’s also an armrest with cupholders and rear AC vents.

Since there’s no fuel tank or exhaust, KIA may offer more boot space in the EV version. The floor is flat, which means better space for rear passengers too.

Battery pack and range

Here’s the most exciting part. KIA is expected to use a 64 kWh battery pack in the Seltos EV. That’s similar to the one used in the international Soul EV and e-Niro.

With that battery size, the Seltos EV could offer a real-world range of 500 to 520 km on a single charge. That’s massive. It easily beats most rivals in its segment.

You can do full-day drives, weekend road trips, or office runs for the whole week without worrying about charging.

And for daily city rides, you might only need to charge it once a week.

Charging support

The Seltos EV will support both AC and DC charging. Using a regular home charger, it can take around 7 to 8 hours for a full charge.

With a fast DC charger, you can go from 10% to 80% in under 45 minutes. That’s super convenient for people on the go.

KIA may also offer a wall-box charger installation with the purchase. You’ll likely be able to track charging and battery health through the KIA Connect app.

Power and performance

The Seltos EV is not just about long range. It will also be fun to drive.

The electric motor is expected to produce around 200 hp and 395 Nm of torque. That’s instant torque from zero. So when you press the accelerator, it just goes.

The car can easily do 0 to 100 km/h in around 8 seconds, maybe quicker. And since it’s electric, the ride is smooth and silent. No gear shifts. No engine noise.

You’ll also get drive modes. Eco for maximum efficiency, Normal for daily use, and Sport for quick acceleration. There may even be a regen mode that allows one-pedal driving.

Tech-loaded features

KIA has always packed its cars with features. The Seltos EV will be no different.

Expected features include:

  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless phone charger
  • 8-speaker Bose sound system
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Powered front seats
  • Cruise control
  • Ventilated seats
  • Air purifier with virus protection

The infotainment will also show EV-specific data. Like battery usage, estimated range, charge time, energy flow, and charging station suggestions.

Safety first

KIA takes safety seriously, especially with EVs. The Seltos EV is expected to come with:

  • 6 airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • Electronic stability control (ESC)
  • Hill start assist
  • All-wheel disc brakes
  • Rear parking camera and sensors
  • 360-degree camera in top model
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • ADAS in higher variants

You also get an SOS emergency button and vehicle tracking via the KIA Connect system.

The car’s structure will be reinforced to protect the battery in case of an accident.

Expected price in India

This part is very important. The petrol Seltos starts at around ₹10 lakh. But this EV version will be more premium.

According to early reports, the KIA Seltos EV is expected to be priced between ₹22 lakh and ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom).

That may sound high, but when you consider the features, range, and performance, it fits right in. It will compete with MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, Tata Nexon EV Max, and upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.

KIA may also offer multiple variants to match different budgets.

India launch and booking timeline

As per sources, the Seltos EV will be officially revealed in early 2025. Most likely around Auto Expo 2025. Bookings may open by March or April, with deliveries starting by mid-2025.

It will be first launched in metro cities with strong charging infrastructure. KIA also plans to expand its charging station network across dealerships.

Dealers are already getting training and service support for EV models.
