New Yamaha MT 15 is back with more aggression, more style, and the same thrilling ride. This bike has always been a favourite for young riders and city commuters. It’s bold, sharp, and feels alive every time you twist the throttle.
With the latest update, Yamaha has added a few new touches that make it even more exciting. Whether you’re riding to college or hitting the highway for a weekend escape, this bike just fits in.
Design that turns heads instantly
The MT 15 looks like it came straight out of a sci-fi movie. The front has that signature predator-style face. It comes with a single LED projector headlamp and sharp LED DRLs that look like angry eyes. It’s not just about the looks. The lighting is strong and bright for night rides.
The body design is muscular and compact. It has a short tail, sculpted tank, and a strong naked street presence. You also get sporty graphics and bold colour options like Racing Blue, Ice Fluo, and Metallic Black.
This bike doesn’t try to blend in. It stands out. People notice it at traffic lights. It has that wow factor.
Comfortable riding posture
The MT 15 has an upright seating position. It’s perfect for city traffic and short highway runs. You don’t need to bend too much like in supersport bikes. The wide handlebar gives you good control. The footpegs are slightly rear-set, so you still get a sporty feel.
The seat height is around 810mm. That makes it suitable for average height riders. The seat cushioning is decent. It’s not a sofa but works well for daily rides.
The pillion seat is small though. It’s more of an emergency option. This bike is clearly designed with solo fun in mind.
Digital cluster and updated features
The instrument cluster is fully digital. It shows speed, RPM, fuel level, gear position, trip meter, and more. Now it also comes with Bluetooth connectivity in the updated version. You can connect your phone and get call alerts, SMS notifications, and ride stats on the display.
The switchgear feels solid. You also get a kill switch and engine start button. It’s all easy to use even with gloves on.
Yamaha has improved the overall quality too. The paint finish, plastic parts, and fit feel better than older versions.
Engine that loves to rev
The heart of the MT 15 is a 155cc liquid-cooled engine. It’s the same one found in the Yamaha R15. It produces around 18.4 PS of power and 14.1 Nm of torque. That may not sound like much on paper, but in real-world riding, it feels fast and responsive.
What makes this engine special is the VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) tech. It gives you better low-end torque for city rides and extra power at high RPMs. So whether you’re in 2nd gear crawling through traffic or zooming past 90 kmph on a flyover, it performs well.
The 6-speed gearbox is slick. And yes, you get an assist and slipper clutch. That means lighter clutch feel and no wheel hop during quick downshifts.
Handling is sharp and confidence-boosting
The MT 15 is built on a Deltabox frame. It’s strong, light, and helps the bike stay stable even during quick turns. The front gets telescopic forks, and the rear comes with a monoshock.
The bike feels light on its feet. Weighing around 140 kg, it’s easy to handle in narrow lanes and traffic jams. The turning radius is small. Parking and U-turns are effortless.
Grip from the MRF tyres is decent for daily use. You can upgrade for better cornering grip, but stock ones do the job.
Braking and safety
You get disc brakes at both ends. The front is a 282mm disc and the rear is 220mm. Braking is sharp and confidence-inspiring. The latest version comes with single-channel ABS. It works well in emergency braking. Dual-channel ABS is still missing though.
The bike also comes with side-stand engine cut-off. So it won’t start unless the side stand is up. It’s a small touch but helps avoid silly accidents.
Fuel efficiency and daily use
Despite its sporty nature, the MT 15 gives good mileage. You can expect 45 to 50 kmpl with smooth riding. The fuel tank is 10 litres, which means fewer trips to the petrol pump if you ride smart.
Maintenance is low. Yamaha service centres are available in most cities and towns. Spare parts are also easily available and reasonably priced.
The New Yamaha MT 15 is made for young riders, college students, and city dwellers who want performance without going too big. It gives you a powerful engine, head-turning looks, and easy handling all in one neat package.
