Tesla has rolled out new updates for its luxury electric duo – the Model S sedan and Model X SUV. These changes are part of what Tesla calls the “Model Air” update. Though the cars have not launched in India yet, let’s explore everything new that’s been added for 2025.
Small But Noticeable Design Changes
Tesla has made a few cosmetic updates to both the Model S and Model X. The front bumpers are now solid, giving a clean and sleek look. The Model S gets a sportier bumper with wider air intakes, especially on the Plaid version. This helps with better stability at high speeds.
Wheel options have also changed. The Model S now comes with 19-inch Aero wheels as standard. You can also opt for 21-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the Model X offers 20-inch wheels and optional 22-inch ones for a more commanding road presence.
Two new paint shades have been introduced. Frost Blue Metallic is a premium option priced at $2,500 extra. Diamond Black replaces the older black tone and costs an additional $1,500.
Cabin Comfort And Tech
Tesla has focused on making the cabin more premium and comfortable. Both models now have improved sound insulation and active noise cancellation. This means a quieter drive, especially at highway speeds.
There’s also ambient lighting inside now. You’ll see soft customizable lights around the doors, dash and footwell area. The front now features an extra camera which helps with Autopilot features and Smart Summon.
Adaptive headlights have been added for better visibility at night. Another update is the steering. Tesla’s unique yoke-style steering is now optional only on the Plaid variants. You’ll need to pay $1,000 extra if you want it.
Space Boost In Model X
Model X gets more practical with better third-row space. The boot has also been redesigned to hold more luggage. It now offers 70.8 litres of space. These changes make the Model X more family-friendly than ever before.
Battery Range And Ride Comfort
Tesla has also made changes to the suspension system. The new setup includes updated bushings and tweaks to the suspension design for a smoother and more refined ride.
The Model S Long Range now delivers 660 km range on a single charge. The Plaid version offers 592 km. However, Tesla has reduced the top speed of the Plaid variant from 322 km/hr to 240 km/hr.
The Model X Long Range gives 566 km, while the X Plaid delivers 539 km on a single charge. These numbers still place them among the top electric vehicles when it comes to real-world range.
Price Increased By $5,000
All trims now cost $5,000 more than before. Here’s the updated pricing:
- Model S Long Range: $84,990 (around ₹74.6 lakh)
- Model S Plaid: $99,990 (around ₹87.5 lakh)
- Model X Long Range: $89,990 (around ₹78.9 lakh)
- Model X Plaid: $104,990 (around ₹91.8 lakh)
While the price hike might feel steep, Tesla has added enough value in terms of design, comfort, and tech to justify it for most buyers.
